Blue Shield of California Foundation Webinar: Exploring the intersection between domestic violence and homelessness

Through a partnership with the Blue Shield of California Foundation, Berkeley Media Studies Group’s Ingrid Daffner Krasnow, Shaddai Martinez Cuestas and Kim Garcia conducted a webinar to explore how the intersection of domestic violence and homelessness are portrayed in the news. The webinar drew over a hundred registrants and served as an opportunity for advocates and journalists to gather and learn how strategic communication can help advance policy goals related to these two inextricably linked issues. Media researcher Kim Garcia walked participants through an in-depth news analysis while Krasnow and Martinez Cuestas tackled media and message strategy. Webinar attendees were invited to attend a smaller, follow-up interactive training to focus on answering difficult questions, pivoting and media interviewing.
