Strategic communication to advance racial equity

The Consumer Health Foundation is using a racial equity lens to assess and advance its grant making and capacity building, communications, strategic philanthropic partnerships, and mission consistent investing programs. Communicating consistently and explicitly about racial equity, both internally and externally, is central to this goal.

In keeping with its strong commitment to racial equity, the Foundation collaborated with the Praxis Project and the Berkeley Media Studies Group to expand and strengthen its current communication around racial equity as a fundamental factor in health equity. Praxis and BMSG employed a multiphase process to help the Foundation assess its existing communication from a racial equity perspective and determine how the Foundation can enhance that work.

BMSG Director Lori Dorfman helps Consumer Health Foundation staff and partners enhance their ability to talk about health equity and economic justice with a racial equity lens.
