Communities Creating Healthy Environments (C-CHE)
Funder: The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation

The Communities Creating Healthy Environments (C-CHE) is a national capacity-building initiative to support diverse, community-based organizations and indigenous groups with proven track records in developing and organizing for effective, culturally competent policy initiatives that address the root causes of childhood obesity at the local levels. C-CHE is a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation with leardership and technical assistance provided by The Praxis Project, a national nonprofit organization that addresses systemic reasons for community problems.

Berkeley Media Studies Group serves on the trechnical assistance team of the C-CHE program to see that all of its partners are 1) aware of the latest food industry marketing practices and 2) equipped to challenge those practices if they see them interfereing with establishing healthy environments for children and adolescents. In collaboration with The Praxis Project, BMSG monitors the marketing industry literature, prepares briefs and alerts designed fro public health advocates to be sure advocates are able to use the materials effectivly
